I've never been part of the IN Crowd

One of the ladies at work has decided that three of us employees are going to go get a drink and toast 2021 goodbye. The three of us have been there at that store the longest out of everyone there. I've been there 14 years and they both have been at the store for 20+ years each.

I actually started at the store with the intention of only being there for a year or two until I got back into daycare. Alas before I knew it, I was celebrating 14 years there and ya know what?

I wouldn't change it for the world. The two ladies are great. Yeah, we've had our issues at times, but through everything I would be there for them in a heartbeat if needed.

Some of the coworkers would go out to dinner and drinks at time's and I would find out via their Facebook feeds. I'm not upset mind you because I have always considered myself a bit antisocial out of work. I literally go to work and come home and I'm in for the rest of the time until I have to go to work again. If this outing comes to fruitation then I'm actually looking forward to it. My goal for 2022 is to get out with friends more.

I don't mind having a glass of wine here and there, but I'm really not a huge drinker to be honest. I am an occasional drinker and I only drink wine. The taste of alcohol really makes me feel eh afterwards, so I tend to only drink one glass.

I read that January is actually considered Dry January where people don't drink for the whole month. I can do that actually. Though I do know folks who will not only drink on New Year's Eve, but they also drink long into January 1st as well... and NO it's not Me! LOL So, wouldn't Dry January be a waste of time? Time not wine!

Entitled much?

On the Nextdoor app someone was complaining because the menorah wasn't being lit during the holidays. She went so far as to judge someone because they weren't lighting one and only concentrating on a holiday tree. This is her response to him...

"In case you did not know there are Jews who live in Irondequoit and practice their religion!!! I had hoped the people in my town are not living in the 50's. Unfortunately your response once again tells me things have not changed for some in this town and furthermore reflects on what you are!!!!!!!"

So here's the thing...
Do you know if the owner of the public tree lighting ceremony is Jewish? If he's not then why would he have a menorah lighting? Inclusion is a great thing, but for YOU to demand that they do it because you want it done then that's just.. STUPID!

There are NUMEROUS religions that are not being represented during the holidays. We don't hear them complaining because they take action and go out and start their own ceremonies. Why you ask?? Because they don't expect other's to do it for them! If it means that much to you that you have to have a menorah lit, then you will move mountains to get it to come to be. Get a permit to hold a public gathering to light the menorah where everyone can gather and celebrate. It can be done, action just has to be taken! BTW.. I did a little looking.. The Town of Irondequoit has a daily Menorah lighting during the holiday in the Gazebo next to a Xmas tree.

Wowzers!!!

So as I posted on Facebook my credit score was boosted up drastically. It jumped from 607 to 697. I only made 2 changes.

I have a Chime account. I'll post a link here.  Chime has a new card called a Credit Builder Card.
You use this card to pay your bills with it and they report everything to the credit companies.

Also I opened up a Burlington credit card that is only used at the store.
So I figure with that I'll use it to buy water and snacks for break and not go overboard.
Once I got approved for the card my score went up!

Just a FYI... if you need Covid testing here in Rochester, NY..

~ WellNow Urgent Care says online when you first look up local testing places that you don't need an appointment... You actually DO need to make appointments to get tested. I tried two locations and there were no available appointments this week in both locations.

~ Park Ridge Hospital only runs tests on patients and the health care workers who work there..
~ MCC does testing, it's free. There are signs that guide you to the back where the tents are. We got there and there was not a long wait. The signs say that you need an appointment, but when we went they took us in, so you don't need to make an appointment to get tested. People in camo were everywhere, so possibly the reserves were helping out.

OMG.... This stuff is amazing!!! Updated 12/19/2020

OK so here's the deal..
I was planning to write this review after I went through the first bottle.
This Snickers creamer is absolutely amazing.
I looove it! It tastes amazing.
It's more like a syrup in my opinion, a thick syrup at that!
They say you only need 2 or 3 pumps, but you actually need more than that to get the full Snickers taste.

Downside is the PUMP! OMG this pump is a pain in the booty!
When I put the pump on it took me about 10 minutes of spinning to spout for it to open up.
Word of advice, get the spout up BEFORE you put the pump on the bottle because once the pump is on it doesn't come off, yep that's right.. it doesn't come off, which to me is a HUGE issue because there's still creamer in the first bottle and I can't get to it!
Hello.. wasteful!

These pumps *need* to be designed to be removeable because I have two bottles and can easily use just 1 pump for both bottles if it were easier to be removed.
When it comes to removing the spout I did Google it and found this "You can remove the pump and it is easier with a pair of channel lock type pliers where you can squeeze the collar and turn it counterclockwise at the same time to release it.".

Halloween Musings

Halloween is right around the corner which always leaves me a wee bit excited. This one will be quite different though as the powers that be here in New York are recommending that everyone refrain from Trick or Treating this year. They are even saying not to Trunk or Treat or have any kind of gathering as well.

They want us to just stay home. While I plan to do that anyway, I know that some folks are planning to go out. It's quite easy to stay 6ft apart when doing so and as long as items are not opened or home made, what's the problem? Right?

See the powers that be need to realize that some parent's really enjoy trick or treating as well.. though I suspect that it's actually the candy they enjoy the most. LOL

I know some folks who are going to have small family gatherings at home with their kiddies and a few that I know of are going out door to door. No matter what they do I wish them well and hope that they take precautions as they enjoy their night out.

An so it begins.. again..

Ya know that moment when all is peaceful and quiet and you think.. hey maybe today's gonna be a good day... maybe I'll just mosey myself on out into the real world and see what's going on. Stay out of the city folks because there's going to be "protesting" going on there. You know the kind of "protesting" that turns into looting and rioting.

I seriously feel sorry for anyone who has their own business these days. They get their store front and go into business. Their hopes and dreams are in this business, in this store front. Every penny they have saved goes into their business.

These "protesters/looters" don't care at all that you're struggling to keep your head and business above water. They don't care that you're a single parent with children to care for. They don't care what color your skin is or what country you were born in. They just don't care. It's all about what they can get their hands on.

They DO care about what merchandise you have in your store. That TV would look great in their living room, heck they'll take all you got because then they can resell them online. Those clothes you have in your store would look amazing in their closets, shoes too. Better yet.. let's just take everything because you know... we can resell it and make money.

Sometime's I think it would be a better idea to open up a storefront online. Sell your wares online and they can't get stolen. It's so sad that this is what life has become... people care more about material things than they do about another person's livelihood.

This is gonna hurt, but needs to be said...

I am a homebody. I love being a home where it's comfy and cozy. This quarantine is kind of nothing to an introvert. We enjoy our solitude, well I really do. lol

The only thing I dislike about the quarantine is the option to go out whenever I want to. Mind you I can go for walks, etc.. but to go to the diner for breakfast or run to the store and find exactly what I need on the shelves.

That's what I miss. I miss grocery shopping like normal people. We don't need to horde food. The world is NOT ending. Buy what you need, and think about other people. That's just common sense.

There's a handful of people on my Facebook who go to food pantry's. That's great, been there done that, but going to 4-5 different food pantry's to stock up is just plain selfish. There are people who could use that food that you are getting.

People seriously need to think about other people when they horde food from both the food pantry's and grocery stores. There are elderly who can't chance the grocery stores so they go to the food pantry's. I met quite a few of them! I've also met some who were turned away because there was no food left.

We are ALL dealing with this together. It's time we looked out for each other instead of just ourselves.

And the seasons change

Went to the library, got some books on writing and ghosties, and looked at the beautiful dogs there.
Today was reading to Dogs day. If Sidney were alive he would have been perfect for that. He was always so patient with kids.

Now I'm watching a Jackie Chan movie [Shanghai Knights] on the tv and getting ready to do some dishes.
I just ate my first carmel apple of the Fall... it was awesome.. makes me want another one!!
