Oh but to dream...

I met a wonderful couple today who were shopping for a suitcase. I had asked if they were going on a vacation and they nodded. The husband said that they travel a lot. Can I just say I'm so bloody envious of them because they get to travel around and not work any more. I can't wait to be able to retire. I really look forward to it though I know that I would miss working at Burlington.

I know it's weird to say one would miss working in retail, but my bosses are great and I really love my job. I loved doing markdowns, but I mean I did them for 14 years and was really ready for a new position. When this full time one came about I was ready for it and prayed so hard that I would be able to do it.

Now that I'm full time I'll be able to get my van sooner than I thought I would. My retirement will be spent living in a van and travelling around NY where I reside with my siblings, nephews and nieces and mom.  The full time job has taken me out of my comfort zone and shoved me headfirst into a routine that I haven't worked in so long. I went from working 3 days a week at 12-18 hours to now working 5 days a week and getting 38 hours.

I'm used to taking naps on my days off and now that'd going to change as I try to pull myself out of the routine I was living in. Working Sunday thru Tuesday & to Noon or 1 and then home all day. It's an adjustment I'm working through with this random schedule in front of me. I work some mornings, mid days and nights, but for the 38 hours I'll do it happily.

Cha cha changes are in the airrrr!

I have officially gone from part time to full time at work and I'm over the moon about it. I'll be doing asset protection and will be working with a great group of guys and gals. When I'm not on the door I'll be walking around the store or doing other things. My training will be either sometime this week or next week.

I will also be the one who is training new asset protection people and ensuring that they are doing what they are supposed to be doing. The guys we have now are normally on their phones except for one who takes his job very seriously. He's done security for years and is kind of a pro at it. I look forward to learning things from him, though he is a really big gossiper.

I'm looking forward to the changes that's coming my way. I do need to learn to be a leader so to speak as I'm expected to be a role model for those who do the same work I do. We are supposed to greet people as they come in and when they leave and we are expected to stand and not be on cell phones texting or watching video's.

There are some at work who have very little faith in me doing the job and they had a good laugh at my expense today when they found out what some of my job requirements were. I will admit that it bothered me a great deal because I have always considered these two laughers to be my friends. Oh well it is what it is. They aren't paying my bills, I am. I have been looking for the opportunity to better myself and I feel that this is it.

The Snow Angels are out in the neighborhood.

On the Nextdoor app so many people are complaining because the companies that they paid to plow their driveways aren't holding to their contracts.

Some of these companies aren't responding to messages so therefore a few of them are having a hard time getting their money refunded.

Most of those who were scammed by these false plow drivers are older, not quite elderly, but older and some have disability problems and aren't able to do it themselves.

When you make a contract with someone, then you need to stick to it especially if you have already been paid to do it! Almost all of the one's who complained used the same guy and they paid up front. He ghosted them during a snowstorm that flooded their driveways, and they couldn't get out.

Luckily the Snow Angels are out and about coming to the rescue. They are plowing or snow blowing their neighbors driveways, cleaning around the fire hydrants and just helping their neighbors out. Some are running errands for each other and doing anything they can to help each other out.

So far so good!

My Mom had a visit with nurse Angie. Her blood sugar numbers have improved and look good. She said the only pain she's in is from pricking her fingers to test her sugar levels. So, Angie suggested getting a tester that attaches to her arm and it tests the levels for her.

She did decide not to have the visiting nurses come because she has PT twice a week on Wed & Thurs. The good thing is that we can get the nurses to visit if Mom wants it later on down the road.

We are also watching the amount of sugar intake. I'm buying a lot of sugar free stuff or low in sugar if I can find it. I bought a tray for her walker and some tennis balls for the two back legs of the walker so she's getting around and getting her own food from the kitchen. Her exercises are being done and meds are being taken as they should be. So far so good!

Tree's everywhere!

I took some garbage to the dumpster a few minutes ago. Someone in the houses around the complex is shooting off fireworks and there is a slight smell of rain in the air.
Kids were out playing on their bikes and laughing and one little girl stopped to see if I needed help. I told her no thank you and to keep playing because you can smell the rain in the air.

As I head down to the dumpster I was looking around at the trees that surround this complex. The complex is literally surrounded by trees and what is deemed as valleys with houses at the top. There are brooks on 3 sides of the complex.

There's 1 way in and 1 way out and that's at the front of the complex around the corner from the office. The trash dumpsters are on either end of the complex, I wish they'd put a dumpster in the center where I am. There are a few elderly folks who can't make the walk to the end of the complex to the dumpsters.
As I was walking back to the house I walked past the group of kids and the little girl who offered to help me was telling the other's in the group to smell the air for the rain. lol One little guy said he smells hot dogs... I'm not sure where he came up with hot dogs, lol he has a good nose if he smelled them.

Valley Brook Musings

This complex I live in is amusing at the moment. People are starting venture out after a long winter's hibernation and tend to their flower beds under their main windows and they're going out and just chilling on the front porches and yelling.. yes yelling at each other.

Right now someone is sitting on their porch behind me and is singing an extremely horrible version of Celine Dion's Titanic. People should be banned from singing that song when they're drunk... I mean really how dare they!
The guy in the house on the hill is back out in his back yard. At first he was cleaning it, but what he's actually doing is tossing his junk over the fence onto the complex's property... so I guess yeah, technically he's actually cleaning his yard.

Every so often he starts swearing like a bloody sailor the last thing he said was "G0d damnit, the fvcking dog bit me!" This is the very same man who had a most unusual conversation with God last year during lock down. I'm curious as to whether they'll have another conversation this year.

Oh boy

honey lemon tea, health

In the complex that I live in the trash dumpsters are at either end of the complex and
I live right in the MIDDLE of said complex.
I walked some trash to the dumpster on Tuesday night and now I have a cough.
Nothing a few honey lemon cough drops and honey lemon tea won't help.
Ever since I started using the drops the coughing isn't as bad as it was.
I had called out that day because I wasn't feeling good, but the trash had to go out.

I go back on Sunday at 5pm.. have you ever had something coming up that makes you
dread going to work?
We have inventory coming up starting Sunday and ends Monday.
Our store isn't ready... the end results will not be good...

Where'd the snow go??

Well we had a white Christmas and it was nice seeing the snow while it was here, but now the snow is long gone and it's back to a leafy carpet on the ground outside my bedroom window.
The hill behind my house is covered with the leaves for so many fall's and when the maintenance guys from the complex snow blow the leaves, the guys blow them all on the hill or in the back corner there behind the townhouses.

That carpet of leaves covering the ground is currently shelter from the cold to the small ones and also a good place for birds, squirrels and other's to find food buried underneath.

While to some the leaves aren't a pretty sight, but to me they are beautiful and are much needed for the small ones outside to survive.

Andrea's tree

I just got off the phone with my sister Andrea. She proceeded to lovingly rub it in my cellular face that she got Taco Bell from our sister Melisa and niece Morgan and I didn't get any.

It's a little game the two of us play. lol Every time she eats Taco Bell she always calls me and says "You're gonna be mad at me.. I had Taco Bell and you didn't!"
I call her and say the same thing to her only I always say.. "Guess what I had and you didn't?" LOL

Then she was all happy because my brother Steve brought a Christmas tree over and they decorated it together and he brought her cookies, he makes amazing cookies!
Then she rubbed it in my face that he was making her his yummy Christmas fudge and cookies.

This girl is getting spoiled rotten. lol Next week I'm going to send her some Taco Bell via Grub Hub and I'm hoping to go see her on Sunday.
I have to email her supported apartment manager to see if it's ok to come.

God has spoken!

Soo I swear I'm gonna try to get this out without too many typos... I'm laughing my booty off while typing.
The guy on the hill behind my place has his firepit on. I can literally see into their backyard from where I'm sitting.
Someone from inside the complex yelled up "Get a mask on outside you idiot!"
The guy on the hill yelled " Who dat, who said dat?"

The unknown voice yelled " God, now get your damn mask on!"
LOL I just can't with some of these people in this complex!

Ooo Valley Brook is just gonna be fun... {insert sarcasm}

I just had a police officer on the doorstep about 5 minutes ago asking me if I had heard anything that happened a few doors down. I have music playing and heard nothing and Mom's snoozing in bed.
There are a hand full of police officers outside and 2 paramedics with a empty stretcher as well. 1 guy was handcuffed and put in the back of the police car while another was talking to an officer and telling him the guy who was handcuffed didn't do it.
Pete came home while I was talking to the officer so I'm feeling much better with him here. After my pup passed away it feels better with him living here with us. Teddy used to be fiercely protective of us. Oh well.. Not sure what happened, but I really hope who ever is injured is ok.

Happy Independence Day folks!

Fireworks are going off outside like crazy! My bedroom is in the back of the townhouse and the sound is so loud.
It literally sounds like they are going off in my back yard!

I don’t need to go see the displays when I can hear them going off in the neighborhood. As far as I’m concerned if you’ve seen them once then that’s enough.

They have been shooting them off since the beginning of the big lock down. It's not the nice peaceful fireworks, but the loud Boomers! It's unnerving to sit here in peace and quiet and suddenly a Boom happens and your almost falling out of the bloody chair. lol

Neighbors complain and call the police, but nothing ever happened. Now on a day where it's acceptable to fire them off the police are getting called again I'm sure. Some of my neighbors are elderly and they have pets, as everyone should know dogs are terrified of them.

Happy July 4th!

Went to the beach today with Mom, Madison and
Missy. After lunch at Billy Grays at the Port of Rochester, Madison and I walked half way down the pier then her feet started hurting.
The water was getting rough the further down we went and I was a bit worried that the pier was going to flood as well so we went back to the family. We had ice cream cones and then came home.

As we walked down the pier we came across some ducks that were swimming around. Floating in the water among them was an empty beer can.
It's disgusting as to how messy the water was that the poor ducks were swimming in.
There was a stray plastic bag hanging around and
empty drink container laying around empty drink container laying around.

Early morning visitor

This little imp and his/her cronies come and checks out the trash can on a daily basis.
That  nice corner hole in the lid was done by them for easy access to the garbage. lol
At one time there were 3 or 4 of them scampering around the trash can, it was like they were taking turns dumpster diving. lol
Gotta love the lil imps.. yeah I really do.

And so it begins...

Image may contain: one or more people, people on stage and textThe parties have begun in the neighborhood! Normally parties start around this time, but no one usually get a live band... well not one like this. lol

maybe there's a Food Truck Rodeo somewhere close by.. they tend to have live bands there. I hear some yelling and very loud music.

Turns out this is a live performance. I certainly hope this guy singing didn't quit his day job they are currently butchering Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody.

So  there's a performance at a club down the road from me, a band called Taran was performing at the My Apartment Bar & Grill.

My backyard forest in the rain.

Image may contain: tree, plant, outdoor and nature I need to get a table to put back there so I can sit outside with the fire pit again. At the moment my fire pit is nothing more than a small grill. My old fire pit was all worn through and was tossed out.

I will be nice to be able to sit outside and get some work done there instead of always sitting inside at my desk.

I miss starting fires... LOL

I've still got the stupid cough.. Yay me!

I'm OK though I'm just going to wait it out like I normally do. I'm drinking a lot of tea with honey and lemon, but I still have the huge loss of appetite.

One thing I'm still keeping up with is my Keto coffee. I had my morning cup and now I'm on to a cup of Emergen-C Super Orange. To this drink I added my Collagen Works powder in the flavor Tropical Crush. It's soo goood!

Winter safety tips for pets

So many people laugh when they see pets with little coats and boots on, but hey those little coats and boots are keeping them warm!

When my pup was alive I wanted to get him a coat to wear, the boots wouldn't have worked as he didn't like anything on his feet. He actually hated having his feet touched.

Since he wouldn't let me put anything on him I made sure to warm him up as soon as he came into the house. I left a towel hanging on the drying rack next to the back door over the heat vent. When he came in he was rubbed down with it. His face and body were warm by the time I was done.

To make it easier for him I was also shoveling paths for him in the show in the back yard. he had two paths to run around in and eventually I connected the two so that he could take a few laps around the tree and the yard. He would come in and get a good rub down and crash on his pillow or my bed and sleep for a few hours.

Snowed in in New York!

Welcome to my world! I got up and went downstairs to go to work and discovered that I'm not actually going to work! Wishful think on my part I guess. LOL
