I used to watch those paranormal shows on the Scy Fy channel and the Travel Channel, but ended up stopping because they were too fake and I couldn’t stand watching how they treated the spirits. I am totally against provoking the spirits, I think it’s rude and uncalled for.
Let alone it’s a very unprofessional thing to do if your in someone else’s place of business or home. Not only are you stirring up those spirits, but your leaving those riled up spirits behind for those poor homeowners to deal with.

If a person was a nasty and mean before they died, it is most likely that they will be the same way in the afterlife. Is it really a good idea to rile up a violent spirit? Then there is those who provoked the good spirits just to get them to show themselves. I recall watching an episode of Ghost Hunters where a spirit of a woman who committed suicide after loosing her child was called all kinds of nasty names just to get herself to show up.
Provoking demonic entities is a favourite thing to do on these types of shows.
I especially enjoyed watching Justin from Ghost Hunters get "shoved" when he provoked the demonic entity at Leap Castle in Scotland. A normal paranormal investigator would never ever think of provoking a demonic entity, they aren’t stupid enough to do so.
Everyone involved in the Paranormal field knows that spirits don’t act on command, they make themselves known when THEY want to do so and not when we want them to. REAL Investigators wait for things to take place naturally and they don’t force it with provoking. They will use manners and ask for a sign or encourage the spirits to make a noise. They would never disrespect the spirits by belittling them or showing disrespect. They are there to help and not to harm.
