Why.. just why??

I'm watching "The Crown" again on Netflix and I have some things that I'm pondering.... 

~ Why is price Philip portrayed as a self righteous douche bag? 
He knew what he was marrying into, surely he wouldn't have acted like the way he was portrayed. Also was it really truly common for them to take on lovers on the side? I mean he was married to the Queen for crying out loud!

One would think that with his responsibilities to his wife, aka the Queen, he would have kept his pants on.

~ Why is it that the Royal family can't dress themselves?? 

In the shows, there is someone literally putting their clothes on them... I mean seriously.. Why???  

I mean are they not capable of putting their own clothes on? They can at least put on their own panties and bra's.. right?? That would be a rather disgusting thing to have to put on someone...

I wonder if this still happens now? There are some things one should not see.. dang the mental images now...

Although if I could dress Matt Smith... I just might enjoy that... who wouldn't?? **
