If I hear one more person say that they need to get a credit card to help boost their credit score then I
swear I'll rip my hair out. Seriously folks you don't need one to boost your credit score! {All links are affiliate links}
Around 3 years ago, I had a 0 credit score. yeah I kid you not, it was a HUGE ZERO! I had no credit card and couldn't even get one even though I "quote quote" qualified for one. it was so frustrating that I simply gave up. yeah I just stopped caring about my credit score. I literally just wiped it from my mind and started to concentrate on what I could do.
I went about my life. I live paycheck to paycheck like most lower class folks. I work part time at a great store called Burlington, I usually get around 25 hours depending on how many markdowns are issued that week. I have an internet bank, Netspend for my paychecks and I also have a Simple account for my savings. The Netspend account has a $5 dollar fee while the Simple account has a $0 fee.
Now as of this writing, my credit score is a whopping 701! Yes a 701!! Here's what I did to boost it!
1. I used my debit card as a credit card. That's a big one there, use your debit card as a credit card! Not a debit card, just hit credit! Credit, Credit, CREDIT!
Both accounts that I have, I can do this with the card from these banks!
2. I have all of my bills paid directly from my paycheck account. Seriously, I have my phone bill, two beauty box payments, Netflix and Amazon Prime pulled right out of my account. Those bills are always paid on time.
I write down the dates the money is taken out and it's usually taken out the same day or around there in the next month. I
3. I changed my money mindset! This is important. growing up I never learned to save money. I wish I was taught the value of saving and investing, but I wasn't. Money was tight back then, I mean I'm one of 9 kids, so yeah it was tight! So now I'm teaching myself the art of saving.
I don't have the mindset that I have to spend money whenever I get it. I don't need the latest gadgets and gizmo's that come out and guess what? Those knock off's are just as good and the big brand names.
4. Any money that's left in my paycheck account is transferred to my savings one before my next paycheck arrives. This money becomes saved money and untouchable. I'm finding that I'm starting to save quite a bit by doing this and I find myself looking forward to sending the left over money to the savings. I feel good about myself for having something left over.
So all in all.. You can seriously do this. All you have to do is be smarter with your money and how much you spend and how you spend it! This photo tells you what my mindset was. Even though I forgot about my Zero credit score, I didn't let it stop me. I moved forward and carried on.
