My 3 tips to becoming more approachable

When I was younger I was approachable. Mind you I always had a hard time making new friends and when i did make then I always expected them to get tired of me sooner or later and wander off. I had quite a few who did as I expected them to do. This has caused me to build a wall that's even bigger and stronger than President Trumps wall.

As I got older I have tried to make myself more approachable and friendlier. I know this sounds weird because I am a nice person, but I always have a "back off" or "don't talk to me" look on my face. I just can't explain it because I do smile at people and tell them to have a blessed day on a daily basis. I'm just a friendly person.

A few things I'm doing are..

~ Don't cross your arms.
I do this all the time when I'm in a social setting. In a way it makes me feel protected. In all actuality by doing this you appear to be more standoffish.

~ If you have a drink, hold it in your left hand and shake with your right one.
I have always shaken peoples hand with my right hand and I have contributed this to being a righty. lol

~ Make eye contact and smile
This is sooo hard for me because I very rarely ever make eye contact with people. The thought of having to look someone in the eyes makes me feel ill. I know this is sad, but it just sends me into a panic.

I'm working on improving myself every day. The walls are slowly being broken down little by little, but it's a super slow process. I'm slowly putting together the puzzle that has been my life, when it's done I'm not sure.
