According to the outcome of Lord Dyson’s investigation, it was found out that princess Diana was manipulated into thinking that :
1 - William was spying on her
2 - Prince Edward was dying from aids
3 - MI5 were coming after her
4 - The queen was dying due to a heart condition
5 - The nanny miscarried Charles’ child
6 - There was a tracking device on her car
7 - she was followed by security services, other than her protection officers
8 - Charles was planning her murder
She was manipulated by Martin Bashir so she could give him the interview, he gave her false documents proving his theories and she believed it.
The results of the investigation aren’t discrediting what Diana said in the interview, but as William said, it greatly affected the way she presented the information, which made her relationship with Charles even worse. It also affected her mental health, she was so paranoid because of the false information she believed.
Diana could have still had her royal security team if she didn’t believe those falsehoods, there was a big possibility that she could have been protected from her death if not for this interview and Bashir’s disgusting actions to get the interview & the awards.
