Talking to the bee's.

This saying was in an episode of Midsomer Murders.

"You always tell the bees when someone is born, dies, comes or goes—because if you don’t keep them informed, they’ll fly away."

Talking to your bees is a very old Celtic custom and is known in other parts of Europe as well. In the 19th century folks thought of their bees as family so they kept the bees updated on family business.
There is an older belief that honeybees were actually messengers of the Greek Gods. So, when you are talking to your bee's it was like you were talking to the Gods.
