Repotted Fred again!

Welp, I had to repot Fred today as the top of his soil was looking yucky. The planter I bought for him was a self-watering one and that just didn't work out well for him at all. His soil has to dry out before I water him again and the self-waterer just kept his soil soaked.
The complex where I live, we have hard water here, so I went and bout small kiddie bottles of water. Once his soil is dry, I dump a bottle in and that's good. He doesn't need much water to be honest. I pour it right on him and around him, so the soil is pretty soaked through.

I looked up a few hacks online in hopes of not killing my poor boy off. Plants really don't live very long with me even if I do follow the "How to keep a plant alive" rules. They just die, their leaves start changing and dying and next thing I know the whole plant is gone. :(

~ There is a hack where you put used coffee grounds in the soil to use as fertilizer. The soil I have has fertilizer in it, so I don't need any at the moment. I have heard that this works wonders with plants though! Coffee is acidic and this addition increases the soil's acidity and keep the bugs away.
~ Putting pebbles on the bottom of the pot will help to keep the roots of your plant healthy. The pebbles keep the roots away from the water which is a good thing!
~ They say not to move your plants around too much. I tend to do this as I like a lot of sunlight on Fred. My bedroom window is in the back, so I don't get a lot of sunlight back there!
