Caring for live Christmas Trees

~ Put the tree in a stand that has a lot of space for water. A watered tree with have minimal needle loss.
* When I was a teen, we used to take a mixture of half Sprite or 7UP and water and put it in the tree. Sometimes we just dumped a bottle of pop in the tree and that was it.

~ If you aren't putting the tree up right away, make sure that you store it in the garage with the tree trunk in a bucket of water.
* When we used to get a live tree while growing up, we would haul it into the house immediately and put it in the tree stand. It didn't get decorated until a few days later to give the branches time to fall down naturally.

~ This is just a matter of common sense, but make sure you keep your tree away from heaters, fireplaces, vents and direct sunlight. These four will dry out your tree really fast.

Also did you know...
When the tree is first cut more than half of its weight is actually water weight.
